About Us
Advancing Research for Asia's 100-Year Life Transition
Asia is ageing at an unprecedented pace, reshaping economies, communities, and social systems for decades to come. This shift brings complex challenges, but also new opportunities in labour markets, financial security, care and health ecosystems, community design, and overall well‑being. To unlock these opportunities, we must reframe ageing as longevity: the benefit of living longer, healthier, and more productive lives.

Our Vision
The Longevity Societies and Economies Institute (LSEI) positions SMU as a research leader dedicated to understanding and enabling societies to thrive in this new era. Leveraging SMU’s strengths across the social sciences, economics, business, law, and computing, LSEI generates interdisciplinary insights grounded in deep disciplinary expertise. We work closely with government, industry, and community partners to inform policy and co‑create practical, scalable solutions.Grounded in Asia’s diverse contexts, LSEI advances thought leadership, shapes public discourse, and builds resilient, inclusive, and opportunity‑rich longevity societies. Our mission is to support individuals across their life course to live well, age successfully, and contribute meaningfully to the communities and economies they are part of.
